The article reports on the price drops in commercial pork, chicken, and beef in the wholesale market of Grande São Paulo in January. The decrease in pork and beef prices is less severe than that of chicken, making pork more competitive against beef but less so against chicken. The demand for pork specifically has contributed to a decrease in quotations in the second half of January. Meanwhile, the demand for whole frozen chicken continues to decline due to increased internal supply, further driving down prices. As a result, the special pork carcass is currently 4.17 Reais/kg more expensive than whole chicken, a 3% increase, while the margin between the special pork carcass and married beef carcass has increased by 1.2%, favoring beef. Overall, the special pork carcass is more competitive on average in January due to its higher pricing relative to beef.
