In Spain, the price of conventional tomatoes on the vine was higher than that of organic tomatoes in the 2021/2022 season, with a price difference of 4.8% per kilo. However, the price of organic plum tomatoes was slightly more expensive than conventional plum tomatoes. Cherry tomatoes, a popular variety in organic tomato cultivation, continued to be more expensive than conventional cherry tomatoes, but the price gap has been decreasing over the years. Organic cherry tomatoes accounted for 42% of the total volume of organic tomatoes sold in 2021/2022, and contributed to 56% of the income from organic tomato cultivation.
