The Central Union of Beekeepers of Turkey has conducted a study on honey costs for 2023, revealing that the production cost of 1 kilogram of honey has increased by 55% in the past year, reaching 111 TL. The rising costs are attributed to increased expenses such as fuel, feed, consumables, and machinery, as well as changes in global climate that require beekeepers to travel more kilometers to collect honey. These increased costs are causing financial difficulties for beekeepers, leading to a decrease in the number of traveler beekeepers and the questioning of the beekeeping profession by the younger generation.
