Mampituba, Brazil has seen a surge in pitaya production, with over 20 producers and a total of nine hectares. The harvest for this year has been productive but saw a slight decrease in price paid to the producers. Since 2018, the Municipal Department of Agriculture and Emater/RS-Ascar have been working to improve the production system. The harvest this year yielded 191,387 Kg. However, the market and traceability of the production chain are still being established. The farmers have been encouraged to adopt better cultivation practices. The City Hall's continued support is vital for the success of pitaya production in the region.
