Pork demand has surged by 35% in Cochabamba, Bolivia, due to its popularity in end-of-year social dishes. Both the Association of Swine Breeders with Health Registration (Adepor-CO-RS) and the Departmental Association of Swine Breeders, along with the Agricultural Chamber of Cochabamba, have confirmed sufficient supply for the holidays. However, pork prices are expected to rise from 21 to 23 Bolivians per kilo to up to 27 Bolivians in the coming weeks. Adepor-CO-RS and the Departmental Swine Breeders Association combine to produce approximately 2,000 tons of pork per month, primarily for the western Bolivian market. Farmers are focusing on breeding pigs with a high muscle-to-fat ratio to meet quality expectations and compete in the market.
