In Amasya, Turkey, the price of dry onions has dropped significantly from 14 TL to 4 TL in just one month. Despite extreme heat, onion harvest in Amasya continues and the dried onions are referred to as 'red gold' by producers who send them across the country, especially to tourist cities. Onion producer Oğuz Çelik explained that the decrease in onion yield this year was due to excessive rainfall, and although the initial price was satisfying for producers, it has now started to decline.
