(Jeju=Yonhap News) Reporter Go Seong-sik = Jeju Province announced on the 1st that, following the mobilization of 86,233 people for village harvests and other activities since the end of last month, an additional 46,000 people will be recruited for rural labor assistance starting this month as field tangerines are harvested.
The mobilized workforce includes 35,000 paid workers, 2,500 volunteers, and 13,000 seasonal workers.
Jeju Province plans to recruit labor through the Jeju Agricultural Workforce Support Center, in collaboration with other regional agricultural organizations, and to form 'agricultural cooperative farming teams' by local agricultural cooperatives to deploy labor in a timely manner.
The province will also implement the pilot project "Jeju Tempting Farmcation" to connect volunteers from other regions for rural experiences and labor assistance.
Jeju Province also intends to support city farmers from Chungcheongbuk-do, with whom it signed a "Rural Job Symbiosis Business Agreement" in 2023, to work at domestic mountain distribution centers.
