Ecuador exports about 100 thousand tons of pineapple in 2021

By Editorial PortalPortuario.cl, @PortalPortuario, The Phytosanitary and Zoosanitary Regulation and Control Agency (Agrocalidad) of Ecuador reported that, in 2021, 99,940 tons of fresh pineapple fruit for export were certified phytosanitary, in 2,850 shipments to 18 destinations worldwide. The markets with the largest amount of this imported fruit are Chile, the Netherlands, the United States, Argentina, Germany, New Zealand and Russia, which compared to the data of what was exported in 2020 achieved an increase of 17%. The pineapple is also exported in an ornamental or decorative way, its main destination markets being the United States and the Netherlands. At the moment there are phytosanitary requirements established so that fresh pineapple fruit can be exported to 38 different countries.
