Uzbekistan set new records for foreign trade in vegetables and fruits in December 2022. The country imported and exported large volumes of tangerines, onions, pineapples, raisins, and walnuts. Uzbekistan emerged as the Central Asia region's largest onion exporter, with over 15,000 tons exported in December 2022, primarily to Afghanistan and Pakistan. Meanwhile, Uzbekistan imported a record 12,000+ tons of onions, mostly from Kazakhstan. Notably, tangerine imports hit a record 18,000+ tons, mainly from Pakistan, and pine nut imports surged due to weather anomalies in March 2022. Raisin imports also increased, with significant supplies from Tajikistan and Iran.
