An international network focused on the potato industry has been launched by 11 Belt and Road (BRI) countries, including China and Pakistan, in collaboration with universities, companies, and organizations. Initiated by China's Southwest University, the network aims to enhance the quality and efficiency of the potato industry in BRI countries through academic exchanges, joint research, and technology transfer. The network will also serve as a platform for advancements in potato breeding and cultivation. The first step will be to gift 100 sets of germplasm rapid diagnostic kits to BRI countries and organize training sessions for members. A strategic cooperation agreement and a proposal for the shared construction and utilization of the 'Belt and Road' International Potato Germplasm Resource Bank have also been released.
