In the first half of 2021, Peru's international shipments experienced a significant surge, reaching $24,334 million, a 48.3% increase compared to the same period in 2020. This growth is primarily attributed to higher demand for commodities such as copper, gold, iron, and fishmeal, as well as a robust performance in the agricultural sector, especially with avocados, grapes, mangoes, and frozen squid. The mining sector played a crucial role, with copper and gold driving its growth, while non-traditional exports, including agribusiness, also saw substantial increases. The United States, the Netherlands, Chile, Ecuador, and Spain were the top destinations for these non-traditional exports. The number of exporting companies rose from 5,038 to 6,064, and while the number of markets slightly decreased, Peru's trade balance enjoyed a positive figure of $552,711,000.
