The Cuyo region in Argentina is conducting a training cycle for small producers on the production of horticultural seeds, aimed at reducing dependence on expensive hybrid seeds and preserving national genetics. The initiative, supported by the Union of Land Workers (UTT) and the Central Market of Buenos Aires, is led by the National Institute of Agricultural Technology (INTA) and focuses on the production, quality analysis, and marketability of horticultural seeds. The virtual meetings were attended by small producers from 16 provinces, with plans to further specialize in seed production by species and to test INTA's horticultural varieties under agroecological management on farmers' farms.
