Flax Fiber Collection in Russia Could Increase by 19.2% — RSHB

Agricultural producers in Russia this year may harvest 31,000 tons of fiber flax, which is 19.2% more than in 2024 (26,000 tons). This forecast was made by the Sectoral Expertise Center of Rosselkhozbank (RSHB). As reported to Interfax by the center, a turn towards dynamic growth in fiber flax production has been observed in Russia since 2023. This trend will intensify in the long term. According to RSHB experts' forecast, by 2030, collection may reach 94,000 tons by expanding the sown area to 110,000 hectares. In 2024, it was 40,000 hectares, and this year it is forecast at 41,000 hectares. "With the application of new deep processing technologies, flax acquires new properties, and its scope of use expands from textile production and cellulose to construction and automotive industry, manufacturing medical preparations and biocomposites.
