In 2022, Uzbekistan experienced a decrease in the import of marketable potatoes for the first time since 2017, with a 2.7% drop compared to 2021, totaling 532.5 thousand tons. Despite the decline, potatoes remained the primary import in the fruit and vegetable sector, marking a significant increase from 193.6 thousand tons in 2017 to 547.2 thousand tons in 2021. Domestic production also saw an increase of 4.8% in 2022, producing 3,441.7 thousand tons. Wholesale potato prices in Uzbekistan remained stable from July 2022 to the end of the year, only to experience a sharp increase due to unusual cold weather in January 2023, followed by a decrease from mid-February 2023.
