A new national fruit and vegetable council, led by Sonia Ricci, will be formed to address sector-specific issues and provide practical solutions. Despite the challenges of climate and Covid, Italian fresh fruit and vegetable sales grew by 8% in 2021, reaching a record 5.7 billion euros. The council will focus on various aspects of the supply chain, from production to distribution, and aim to ensure fair pricing and quality. The council will also address the logistical deficit in Italy, which costs the economy over 13 billion euros, and explore ways to modernize national logistics.
