Gaucho wheat stuck: market remains idle

Despite a slight increase in exports, which totaled 190 thousand tons, the volume is still considered very low to reduce the excess supply. With that, the market remains under strong pressure. Domestically, the mills are waiting for the fulfillment of old contracts, offering values between R$ 1,050 and R$ 1,070 per ton in the regions of Missões and Tenente Portela. It is estimated that there are still about 2.4 million tons of wheat from Rio Grande do Sul to be marketed, which hinders any price recovery. In Santa Catarina, the harvest began timidly and without any new business. Producers are asking for R$ 1,250 per ton FOB, but the mills are offering the same CIF value, halting negotiations. Prices paid to wheat growers have declined in some markets, ranging from R$ 62 to R$ 70.50 per sack.
