On April 14, 2022, Ghana made the decision to ban the export of corn and soybeans to eight countries, including the DR Congo, USA, Niger, Italy, Canada, the UK, Qatar, and Sierra Leone. This move is aimed at increasing the availability of these commodities in the domestic market to support the poultry feed industry. However, this ban is expected to result in higher prices for these products in the DR Congo, as the country relies heavily on imports.
