Gokseong County in South Korea is beginning full-scale exploration of the Southeast Asian market for its famous 'Gokseong Melon', starting with the first export to Hong Kong. The county, which has received Korea's first geographical indication for a melon crop, plans to expand its exports to Southeast Asia following the successful shipment of 6.4 tons of melons to Hong Kong. The county also plans to start large-scale shipment of cherries this year, having cultivated the crop for eight years, with a goal to become the nation's best cherry producer by 2026.
