The Government of Minas Gerais is hosting a virtual meeting with importers from 24 Central and Eastern European countries to promote the Minas Gerais honey production sector and open new export markets. The meeting is a part of the state's effort to provide business opportunities and international market support to Minas Gerais entrepreneurs. Despite already exporting to 22 of the invited countries, honey is not currently on the list of Minas Gerais exports. The state is also conducting courses to guide producers through the export processes and requirements. Minas Gerais has a robust beekeeping sector, with nearly 8,000 beekeepers and 150 associations, and is known for its high-quality honey and propolis production.
