Guatemala's avocado export packaging plant opens with 32 tons of processing capacity per hour

Guatemala's Libertad reported that Guatemalan President Bernardo Arévalo, U.S. Ambassador to Guatemala Tobin Bradley, and Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Food Maynor Estrada attended the opening ceremony of the avocado export packaging plant on the same day. The avocado export packaging plant, called "Avopack", can process 32 tons of avocados per hour, and can process 256 tons in a single shift of 8 hours. The total investment in the packaging plant is about US$65 million (about 500 million quetzales), which will directly create 1,000 jobs. The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food pointed out that the factory will improve the avocado export industry chain.
