(Changwon=Yonhap News) Reporter Lee Jeong-hoon = Gyeongnam Rural Technology Institute announced on the 16th that it will develop processed products such as a hangover remedy and fermented beverages using tropical fruit papaya.
The papaya pulp is rich in moisture, fructose, and glucose, while the peel is abundant in dietary fiber, calcium, magnesium, and other inorganic components.
The Rural Technology Institute believes that utilizing papaya pulp and peel can lead to the development of processed foods that can be consumed in large quantities, such as hangover remedies and fermented beverages.
Papaya is cultivated by farmers in greenhouses, mainly in Jinju City.
Every year, farmers in the province produce hundreds of tons of papaya.
However, since the distribution network is not yet fully established, there are no large-scale consumers for papaya other than for fruit and vegetable use.
