A special advisory has been issued in Gyeongnam, Busan, Ulsan and Gyeongbuk regions of South Korea due to the presence of Nomura-billed jellyfish in the waters. The jellyfish were first spotted in the East China Sea in May and have since concentrated in the southern seas of Jeju and Jeollanam-do. The local government found the density of the jellyfish to be 1-10 animals per 100 square meters in Gyeongnam, 1-2 animals per 100 square meters in Busan, 1 animal per 100 square meters in Ulsan, and 1 animal per 100 square meters in Gyeongbuk. The National Institute of Fisheries Science has urged the public to report any sightings and for the local government to remove the jellyfish to minimize damage to fishermen.
