Iran has the world's highest honey consumption per capita, with residents consuming more than double the global average of 500 grams per year. The country ranks eighth in agricultural production and relies heavily on bees for pollination. Unfortunately, pesticide use is posing a threat to beekeepers. Despite high production costs, Iran is the world's third-largest honey producer, according to the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). The country's annual honey production is projected to reach 115,000 tons, and a five-year plan has been initiated to improve the quality and quantity of honey production. Exports of high-quality Iranian honey are made to various countries including China, Kuwait, and the UK.
