Iran plans to increase honey production by four percent each year as part of a strategic document released in 2018. The document also aims to see a 15 percent growth in the production of other beekeeping products such as royal jelly and propolis. Iran currently ranks third in the world in terms of apiaries, but the chairman of the Animal Science Research Institute emphasizes that the amount of honey production in the country should be increased to meet the potential of each bee colony, which is more than 25 kilograms.
