The 2nd Bulletin of the Brazilian Horticulture Market Modernization Program (Prohort) released by the National Supply Company (Conab) highlights a decrease in orange prices in several Supply Centers due to weak demand, with drops of 23.76% in Fortaleza and 18.65% in Recife. However, fruit production remained low, and vegetables saw price increases due to climatic issues and reduced availability. Potato prices rose in most wholesale markets, and carrot prices increased significantly in many markets analyzed, especially in Fortaleza, Vitória, and Goiânia. The pressure on values was due to a drop in supply, which was almost 15% lower in January/22 compared to December/21, and the continuation of rains in producing areas in February maintains high prices.
