Turkey: Hungarian vetch and fodder pea support from Tekirdağ Metropolitan Municipality to farmers

Tekirdağ Metropolitan Municipality distributed Hungarian vetch and fodder pea seeds to the producers. Speaking at the distribution ceremony held in Malkara district, Metropolitan Mayor Kadir Albayrak said that the costs in the agriculture and livestock sector have increased. Expressing that they continue to support the producers as a municipality, Albayrak said: "We distribute seeds of Hungarian vetch and fodder peas within the scope of our Legume Forage Crops Expansion Project in order to encourage our livestock to produce their own feed. The cultivation of leguminous forage crops significantly increases the fertility of the soil. "While the area where fodder peas were planted in our province was 12 thousand 910 decares in 2014, this area has increased to 20 thousand 564 decares with the contribution of our project, with official figures.
