Brazil: Over 11 million/t in 9 months, chicken meat production is the highest ever for the period

Preliminary data from the IBGE on Brazilian meat production in the third quarter of 2022 indicated that chicken slaughter in the period totaled just over 1.550 billion head, a number that meant an increase of 3.14% over the previous quarter (1.504 billion heads, the lowest volume in eight consecutive quarters) and 1.72% in relation to the same quarter last year (1.537 billion heads). Meat resulting from these slaughters totaled 3.729 million tons, a volume just over 2% higher than those recorded in the previous quarter and in the same quarter of last year, when production was just above 3.647 million/t. Note, in this case, that the rate of increase in production over the same quarter of last year (+2.24%) was higher than the number of heads slaughtered, which increased by 1.72%, a fact explained by the increase in the weight of heads slaughtered .
