Large berry companies in Moldova, previously focused on exporting, are planning to sell a significant portion of their production domestically this year, particularly in small packages. The Berry Producers Association "Pomușoarele Moldovei" is collaborating with the Chisinau administration to organize spring-summer fairs and a 'tent trade' network in the capital's micro-districts. Some of these companies have already made deals with supermarket chains for supply in special packaging. The decrease in Moldova's berry exports last year, by 30-70%, along with reduced smuggling during lockdown, has shown the domestic market's potential. The country's strawberry farms, which have post-harvest infrastructure, expect to begin exporting to Romania this year.
