In March, Hungarian rice became 19 percent more expensive

On an annual basis, sunflower cooking oil continued to become more expensive among the foods in the inflation basket of the Central Statistical Office. In one year, cooking oil rose by 28 percent, followed by husked paddy rice by 19 percent, and white bread by 17 percent. Among vegetables and fruits, apples and cucumbers have become more expensive in the last year. The average price of apples of HUF 443 in March increased by 15% in one year. It is true that the price level decreased by only HUF 6 compared to February, but this is roughly 70 percent of the peak of HUF 624 last August.
