In Moldova, the price for grapes of Moldova variety has risen due to the demand in Romania

During the last week of February, on the Moldovan market, the wholesale price for table grapes of the Moldova variety increased by an average of 1 lei / kg - up to 9-12 lei / kg ($ 0.51-0.68 / kg). The rise in price is noted for the first time since the end of January this year. Experts from the winegrowers' associations point out the only significant reason for the rise in prices for these products - an increase in demand for Moldovan grapes in Romania. This is not a very typical phenomenon for this period of the year. According to traders, it may be explained by an attempt by Romanian consumers to replenish their diet with fresh plant products at a time when the new crop of fruit and berry products are still scarce and cost too much. In this context, it should also be taken into account that in the autumn of last year the Romanian food market was in “economy mode”, the demand for expensive fruit-growing products was not very high.
