Summer heat waves are significantly impacting raspberry production in Hungary, leading to smaller yields and lower quality fruits. The country's raspberry cultivation area has decreased from over 1,500 hectares two decades ago to less than 200 hectares today, with the industry facing challenges such as manual labor shortages and competition from countries like Serbia and Poland that have adapted to industrial production and new harvesting techniques. György Csizmadia, the head of the Fejér County Horticultural Department of the National Chamber of Agriculture, has raised concerns about the future of domestic raspberry production and highlighted the need for shifts in cultivation methods to adapt to the current climate and technological advancements.
