The European Commission will provide 27.2 million euros to Italy from the agricultural reserve (formerly called the crisis reserve) to help compensate farmers in areas affected by outbreaks of bird flu, following the positive vote of the Member States of the European Union. The high cases of avian influenza in this country at the end of 2021 generated a loss of production of hatching eggs, eggs for consumption, live animals and poultry meat on farms located in those areas with movement restrictions, as well as losses for destroyed eggs and meat.
