The Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO) has launched the One Country, One Priority Product (UPUP) initiative in Bangladesh, aiming to maximise the potential of the country's second-largest produce, jackfruit. The initiative has significantly boosted the livelihoods of local farmers and entrepreneurs by providing training in modern production techniques, post-harvest handling, and value addition. As a result, farmers have seen a surge in their yields and product quality, commanding higher prices. The FAO's focus on green development, innovation, and compliance with international standards is expected to further enhance jackfruit's market access, both locally and internationally.
