President Joko Widodo of Indonesia has stated that the country's downstreaming efforts will not only focus on mining goods but also extend to plantation and marine products, including coconuts. Indonesia is currently the world's largest coconut producer, with 4.1 million coconut farmers producing 16.8 million tons. President Widodo encouraged Indonesian entrepreneurs and banks to support the downstreaming process by turning raw coconut exports into semi-finished or finished goods, such as nata de coco and coconut shell charcoal, which can significantly increase the value of the products.
