In the beginning of this year, Kazakhstan experienced a significant increase in vegetable imports, with over 29% more compared to the same period last year, totaling 64.1 thousand tons. The country's dependency on vegetable imports, particularly from China, has been on the rise, with cabbage, eggplants, zucchini, pumpkins, tomatoes, carrots, beets, radishes, cucumbers, onions, garlic, asparagus, eggplants, capsicums, carrots, beets, radishes, potatoes, and lettuce all seeing increased imports. However, there was a notable decrease in lettuce imports from most countries, including a significant drop from Uzbekistan. The import volumes and sources of specific vegetables have varied, with some experiencing increases in supply from countries like Iran and China, while others, such as carrots, beets, and radishes, have seen a decrease in import volumes. Overall, Kazakhstan's vegetable market has been heavily influenced by increased imports, with potato supplies rising and asparagus, eggplants, and capsicums seeing a slight decrease.
