In 2020, Kazakhstan saw a 19.9% increase in the production of tea and coffee, reaching 18.7 thousand tons. The majority of this production was in the Almaty region. Local companies met 32.1% of the demand, while imports made up 67.9%. Despite the increase in production, imports decreased by 7.6% to 36.3 thousand tons. The domestic market saw the sale of 47.7 thousand tons of tea and coffee, which was 4.6% less than the previous year. The main importers were Kenya, India, and Russia. The average price per kilogram of tea in shops and bazaars increased by 11.5% compared to the previous year. Experts predict a global increase in coffee prices due to dry weather in Brazil's coffee-growing region and a reduction in coffee production in Vietnam due to natural disasters.
