Lao Cai continues to expand its pineapple growing area in Vietnam

In 2023, the total area of pineapples in Lao Cai province will reach 2,200 hectares, the harvest output will be 41,900 tons, the average value will reach 100 million VND/ha/year. Lao Cai plans to develop pineapple production areas in the province to 2,260 hectares by the end of 2024, of which 60 hectares will be newly planted in Muong Khuong district on the basis of converting ineffective production land to pineapple production. Currently, pineapple acreage is mainly concentrated in Muong Khuong, Bao Thang, and Bat Xat districts. Regarding seasonality: Pineapple trees can be grown all year round, but pineapple planting needs to be arranged in accordance with market demand.
