The Ministry of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources of Kazakhstan is planning to revise the water consumption limits in the agricultural sector, with the aim to decrease these limits. The ministry is also taking steps towards the development of the water industry, including the creation of Roadmaps for the introduction of water-saving technologies, the construction of nine new reservoirs, and the digitalization of water accounting on irrigation canals. The ministry is also considering allocating funds from the budget for water management projects. The goal is to restore irrigation networks on 600,000 hectares and provide water to 2.2 million hectares of land by 2025. This plan is in response to the impact of hot and dry weather on crops in the country.
