Ireland has successfully secured access to the Malaysian market for pigmeat exports. This achievement, celebrated by Ministers Charlie McConalogue and Martin Heydon, was made possible through the efforts of the Ministry, the Embassy of Ireland in Kuala Lumpur, Bord Bia, and other stakeholders. Malaysia, with a population of 33 million and a pork consumer market, imports about 6-7% of its pigmeat consumption. The annual per capita pork consumption in the country is 17kg.
