A proposal by Cammast, a company owned by Master Wine Holdings, aims to establish a snail farm across a 10,400sq.m plot in Naxxar, near an old people’s home. The project includes 4.4m-high greenhouses occupying 6,000sq.m, complete with solar panels, and is in line with Malta’s National Agricultural Policy, which encourages innovative food production techniques like hydroponics, aquaponics, vermiculture, and snail farming. This policy also permits solar farms at quarries. Notably, the proposed site is adjacent to a snail farm approved for a similar company, Malta Snails, showing a growing interest in this unconventional farming method.
