Mato Grosso in Brazil records cattle herd of 34.4 million animals

Mato Grosso has a cattle herd of 34,473,643 animals. The volume represents around 15% of the national herd, according to data from the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE). The number of cattle in the state was surveyed during the herd stock update campaign, carried out between May 1st and June 15th of this year, according to the State Agricultural Defense Institute (Indea-MT). The numbers were presented on Tuesday (29), during the 35th working meeting of the State management team that make up the Strategic Plan of the National Surveillance Program for Foot-and-Mouth Disease (PE-PNEFA). In 2021, according to the Municipal Livestock Survey (PPM), released in 2022 by the IBGE, Brazil had a cattle herd of more than 224,602 animals.
