In the first half of 2022, the Chinese market has emerged as a key destination for Argentine beef, with a 1.9% increase in volume exported compared to the same period last year, totaling 426,000 tons. The value of these exports saw a significant increase of 40.3% from the previous year, reaching US$ 1,766 million, largely due to a rise in the average price per ton from US$4,217 to US$5,892. China accounted for 76.7% of Argentina's beef exports, making it the primary market, while isolating Israel and Germany in second place. The relaxation of export quotas, as seen with the recent Hilton Quota, has had a positive effect on the industry, notably increasing prices for bulls and cows by 6.2% and 7.7% respectively. This surge in demand, especially for canned beef, has been attributed to the government's decision to limit certain cow cuts for export, thereby stimulating domestic demand.
