Turkey's Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, İbrahim Yumaklı, has announced the launch of the Livestock Production Development Project, a comprehensive initiative aimed at enhancing sustainable and efficient livestock production. The project's objectives include ensuring a steady, sustainable supply of animals at affordable costs for producers, providing consumers with affordable red meat, and ultimately reducing Turkey's dependence on red meat imports. The project is being implemented in collaboration with the Kazımkarabekir Agricultural Enterprise Directorate (TİGEM) and the Meat and Milk Institution. The Minister also highlighted the project's efforts to combat foot-and-mouth disease, which have resulted in an 80% reduction in the disease rate, and mentioned plans to increase breeding animal numbers at TİGEM farms in Iğdır and Şanlıurfa Ceylanpınar.
