South Korea's Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs has announced its participation in combating the global food crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic by providing rice aid to six countries through the World Food Programme (WFP). This initiative is in line with Korea's commitment to the Food Assistance Convention, which aims to provide 50,000 tons of rice annually to refugees and migrants from vulnerable countries. With the global food crisis escalating due to the pandemic, Korea has reviewed its food aid projects and has seen positive results, supporting over 3 million refugees and migrants each year. For 2021, Korea plans to donate 10,000 tons of rice to Yemen, Kenya, Uganda, Ethiopia, Syria, and Laos, starting distribution in June.
