The Ministry of Agriculture in Chile has released 12 million healthy strawberry plants for sale, following treatment for the strawberry nematode, and has reallocated $2,000 million to support farmers affected by the pest. An additional $789.3 million has been allocated by INDAP to help fruit growers. The Ministry is also expediting the process to import strawberry plants from other countries. The Seremi of Agriculture in the Metropolitan region is seeking information from the municipality of San Pedro about farmers who have purchased plants from the Llahuen agricultural nursery or have a current contract with the establishment, in order to address the agricultural emergency. So far, the SEREMI has provided support to 200 beneficiaries, including 100 strawberry farmers.
