The Togolese Ministry of maritime economy has issued a notice to fish importers with sanitary certifications expiring between 2015 and 2018, demanding they renew them by November 20, 2021. This directive is in compliance with the country's law aimed at regulating fishing and the sale of sea products, which aims to mitigate health risks. In the past, Togo had banned the importation of tilapia to safeguard public health. Between 2018 and 2019, the nation's fish production reached 37,000 tons.
