Moroccan lettuce is gaining ground in France and the UK

Moroccan growers continue to increase fresh lettuce exports to France, with volumes in the first three months of the current year reaching a record high, according to EastFruit. Additionally, Morocco also exported fresh lettuce to the UK for the first time after a three-year break. Moroccan producers continue to increase and diversify agricultural exports, including fresh lettuce. In 2018-2019, Morocco exported around 900 tonnes of fresh lettuce each year, with Russia accounting for the largest share of these export volumes. However, exports to Russia fell sharply in 2020, which had a negative impact on total export volumes, which however have started to grow again since 2021.
