In 2022, Spain experienced a significant shift in its zucchini market, with a 21.93% decrease in exports and a 33.45% increase in purchases of Moroccan zucchini. Despite the drop in exports, which totaled 320.62 million kilos, down 90.05 million kilos from 2021, the export revenue saw a notable increase of 22.14%, reaching 442.18 million euros, largely due to a 56.35% rise in the sale price of courgettes. Concurrently, Spanish purchases of Moroccan zucchini surged to 10.93 million kilos, valued at 14.52 million euros, a significant uptick in both volume and value from the previous year. This trend underscores the growing dependency on Moroccan zucchini and the impact of price fluctuations on market dynamics.
