Record direct deliveries of fresh and frozen vegetables, fruits, and berries from Morocco to Germany in the first quarter of 2024, with a 40% increase from the previous year and double the average of the past five years. This includes a significant growth in the export of greenhouse tomatoes, sweet peppers, frozen raspberries, and fresh blueberries. The volume of Moroccan presence in the German market could be larger as a significant portion of exports enter through re-export through Spain or France. The increase in Moroccan exports is attributed to the crisis state of the greenhouse industry in the EU due to increasing energy costs, making southern suppliers like Morocco and Turkey more competitive.
