Morocco's olive oil exports experienced a significant growth in 2022, with an 85% increase in volume and a 49% increase in value compared to the previous year, according to the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Rural Development. This growth outpaced the average for Moroccan food exports, which increased by 20% in 2022. The country also surpassed the MAD 80 million threshold in food export value for the first time in December 2022. However, the International Olive Council has expressed uncertainty in the 2023 olive oil export estimates due to reduced production in major counting countries, leading to price increases and market volatility. The Moroccan Government has been called upon to take measures to keep olive oil prices affordable for all.
